Website Process Overview

Creating a quality website takes time.  We do our best to create websites as quickly as possible so you can maximize your online presence.  Here’s an overview of what you can expect during the building of your website:

Timeline

  1. Initial Phase (begins 1 business day after signed proposal and deposit received)
Once your signed Project Estimate and Deposit have been received, you will receive a Kick-off Email.  This email contains everything you need to get started with your website project, including a link to your own personal Dropbox folder.  This folder is going to serve as the central hub for storing all of the necessary documentation for your project.  You will find digital copies of all your worksheets as well as subfolders where you will save content for each page of your website.

At this point we will also schedule milestones for completion of client worksheets, the design phase and Go Live of your site.

  2. Material Phase (typically takes 2-4 weeks although can take longer, if necessary)
In order to create the website you envision, we ask that you submit all the worksheets and website content to the appropriate folders within Dropbox.  How long this phase lasts depends completely on you!  During the Initial Phase, we will have scheduled milestones where you commit to turning in all of the necessary documentation before we can move to the Design Phase.  If you miss your target milestone date, please note that we cannot guarantee your spot on either the Design or Go Live calendar.  It is very important that if you think you are going to miss any milestones to communicate with us as soon as possible so we can discuss alternative dates that are available.

Once all of the documentation has been received, we will schedule a call to review everything and to confirm dates for First Draft and Go Live.

  3. First Draft (completed within 2-4 weeks after receipt of all necessary documentation)
The First Draft is our initial interpretation of all of the communication we’ve had with you to that date along with all of the worksheets you submitted.  The First Draft of your site will be a live site hosted on our test server so that you can understand the user experience completely.

It is important to remember that the First Draft can easily be changed.  Our goal is to work with you to build a website that meets and exceeds your expectations.

  4. Revisions (1 week)
After the First Draft has been submitted for your review, we will schedule a follow-up call to discuss any proposed changes you would like to make.  Small changes can often be accomplished within 1-2 business days but more extensive changes can take up to a week.  Once the changes are completed, we will email you to let you know that the website on the test environment has been updated and is ready for your final approval.
  5. Final Review and Go Live
When you feel that your website is ready to be shown to the world, you’re ready to “go live”!  After the necessary revisions have been incorporated into the site, we will ask you to conduct a final review.  The final review will ensure your website looks great and is working properly.  If everything meets with your approval, you will be asked to sign and submit the Project Sign-off form.  Once we receive this document, we will upload your new website and allow search engines to begin crawling the site.  Please allow up to 2 business days for us to take your website live, since it can be a technically complex process.
